Above is the “best” Discipline spec as we charge into 3.1 today. The major difference in this spec and the one we’ve had are a few key talents that make our spec even more efficient and… to be frank, more kick ass than before.
Just a reminder, there’s a throw-away point. You can put it wherever you want… you may have two have two extras if you don’t pick up Power Infusion. Up to you.
- Soul Warding: Reduces the cooldown on Power Word: Shield by 4 seconds, and reduces the mana cost of your Power Word: Shield by 30%.
For those who aren’t aware, this means we have no cooldown on PW:S (note that Weakened Soul still happens per usual, but we don’t have to wait 4 seconds to drop another shield on someone). Given the mana cost is reduced further, our shield is definitely becoming quite mana efficient (your mana return from Rapture may actually cover the cost of your PW:S a good deal, so… that’s like a free bubble).
- Improved Flash Heal: Reduces the mana cost of your Flash Heal by 15%, and increases the critical effect chance of your Flash Heal by 10% on friendly targets below 50% health.
Blizzard should just really say it out loud that Discipline priests should be focusing on Flash Heal for raid healing and perhaps, depending on your strategy, Divine Aegis procs. Obviously we still want to weave our Greater Heals directly after our Penance in the PW:S -> Penance -> GH -> PoM combo, but a Flash Heal is pretty important given it will be more effective on those with lower health. Hooray!
Now these are the two of some of the largest changes to our build, but that isn’t the least of it. Don’t forget about Rapture that is based off of when your PW:S drops (or is eaten by damage), and that Renewed Hope is now the damage reduction buff that Grace used to give individually, but only using PW:S will activate the 3% reduced damage. Grace still increases healing done to the target (up to 9%, stacks 3 times in increments of 3%) but don’t forget it’s relegated to one target now.
And of course, my favorite changes are to Divine Hymn and Hymn of Hope… both are channeled but have become super buffed to possibly be useful. We’ll see though; we’re heading into Ulduar (given everything is peachy by our raid time) and seeing what we can do.
I’m excited, to say the least, that I know we’re going to do pretty well regardless… we’re not aiming for 1st place, but we want to succeed. And I’m pretty sure we will! All of the guilds (Horde and Alliance) are crazy ridiculous on Ysera (that includes Alpha, who dropped Heroic Naxx before anyone else).
Anyway, more information: this Blog will start taking a more focused aim at Death Knights as well, possibly other classes that people feel about discussing within my guild. Either that, or you’ll see more random content aimed at the… less… random?
Take care y’all. Rock out tonight!
